Robert Thomas, Attorney at Law

Attorney Robert Thomas graduated Cum Laude from Indiana University, Bloomington. Robert has a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Cleveland – Marshall College of Law and a Master of Law Degree (LLM) in Taxation from Chicago Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology.

Prior to entering private practice and providing over 20 years of legal assistance in these areas, Robert worked in the United States House of Representatives for the Congressman representing the 13th Congressional District of Ohio.

Thereafter, Robert was employed by Gould Inc., Ocean Systems Division, and Hughes Aircraft Company, Optical Products Division. Both companies were defense contractors. Robert has also served as an expert witness in trials concerning government contracts and government cost accounting standards.

Robert has also served as a mediator in the National Association of Securities Dealers.

Robert is active in his local church and in the Salvation Army as well as World Vision in raising money for clean drinking water in countries in Africa.

Kelly has years of experience assisting Robert Thomas with all of the legal areas served by the Law Office. Kelly McKinney holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Illinois University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Her accounting background makes her invaluable in the examination process of marital assets and debts, and with the preparation of the Interim and Final Accounting documents required for Probate matters.

Kelly McKinney holds a Master of Science in Accounting with a specialization in Taxation from Southern Illinois University, which has assisted her in the comprehensive understanding of IRS tax laws.

Kelly McKinney was also an Illinois Real Estate Broker for fifteen years and understands the complicated nature of buying and selling a home or a business for the purpose of settling a marital or probate estate.

Ingrid Veliz, Part-Time Paralegal, Immigration Specialist

Ingrid Veliz, part-time paralegal with a concentration in immigration law. Ingrid holds an Associate of Science in Paralegal Studies and is fluent in Spanish. Ingrid assists with the preparation of the division of retirement benefits through Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO). Ingrid’s personal and professional experience in multiple fields makes her an asset to our legal office and our clients.
